To help you choose your tiles with confidence, we offer a range of sample formats, the sizes and options are all on the product pages:
- Free Cut Samples - Best for checking colour, finish and texture. A cut tile sample is ideal when you want to narrow down your shortlist. Please note that smaller samples may not show the full pattern, variation or movement of the tile.
- Free Small Tile - For most of our smaller formats, the standard free sample is a full tile. This is predominantly brick tiles or small squares.
- Free Mosaic Samples - Our mosaic samples are mounted on a swatch card and are great for deciding if the pattern or colours work with your design scheme.
- Large Format Samples - If you have narrowed down your options and want to see a larger sample of your chosen tiles before making a purchase, our large format samples are ideal to help you feel confident in the colour, surface detail and overall feel in your home.
- Full tile Samples/Tile Sets - A full tile gives you the best idea of the finished look, especially for patterned or large tiles. They provide confidence in the pattern, shape, detail and scale. We also offer tile sets on the product pages, these are sets of 3 tiles, great for understanding how smaller formats look together.
We try to offer photos that are as accurate to the tiles as possible but tiles can look different to the image you have seen online whether that's depending on your screen settings or the lighting.
The look of your tiles can also vary depending the room orientation, daylight, artificial lighting and surrounding materials. Whether you are planning a new bathroom, kitchen, hallway or full renovation, samples are the best way to make a purchase with confidence.
Ordering samples helps you:
- Check the true colour in your own space
- Feel the surface texture and finish
- Compare several options side by side
- See how the tile works with your paint, worktops and furniture
- Make a more confident decision before ordering your full quantity

Samples are a guide
Tile samples are designed to show the colour, finish and general character of a tile. Most natural materials and many decorative or glazed tiles can vary from piece to piece or from batch to batch.
If you are ordering a natural stone, handmade or deliberately varied tile, variation is part of the look.
Lighting changes everything
Always check your sample in:
- Natural daylight
- Evening light
- Artificial or bright lighting
A tile that looks warm white in one room may appear cooler or darker in another.
Natural Stone can change colour
Natural stone is exactly what it says on the tin, natural, and it has a whole heaping of natural variation. Some even come with their own million year old fossils. That's part of the beauty of them.
We do not seal our natural stone samples as there are different methods of sealing that can change the look of the stone. For more information on sealing your natural stone read here.
You can wipe a damp cloth over the surface to preview what the tile could look like enriched with sealant.
What level of maintenance works with your lifestyle
Some products will be higher maintenance than others. Natural materials such as terracotta are considered high maintenance compared to porcelain alternatives but offer beautiful character and charm. It's good to consider if the level of maintenance required to keep it looking it's best will work with your lifestyle.

We also offer special-order products and samples, those may have a nominal fee which we endeavor to make as clear as possible on the product page.
How many samples can I order?
You can order up to 8 free cut samples per order. We understand that sometimes 8 samples just won't cut-it, in which case we don't limit how many orders you can place, so you can always order more if needed.
What size samples are sent?
We offer a range of different samples, to help you in your design journey. The samples come in different sizes depending on the product it comes from, this can range from smaller cut samples
of the full tile to actual full tile samples depending on the size of the tile. These sizes are all on the product pages to make shopping for your samples easier.
Cut Samples: Cut samples vary in size depending on the type of tile it comes from. Most of our own cut samples are 140x140mm, but for example, a sample of a wood effect tile plank might be 300x140mm. Other brands hosted on our website will have samples in different sizes.
Small Tile: Small tile samples are a single full tile sample. They will be the size of the tile.
Mosaics: Our mosaic samples are a repeat of the pattern cut out of the full mosaic sheet, the size of these vary depending on the mosaic itself but are mounted on a 140mm wide swatch card.
Large Cut Sample: all larger samples have the dimensions available on the product pages to make it easier to decide if you would like a larger cut sample or a full tile sample.
Other UK brands: We retail other UK brands on our website, and these samples may vary in size from what we have described above.
Can I order full tile samples?
We understand that sometimes a cut sample doesn't quite give you the full-effect of the tile. To order a full size sample, please contact our friendly team, they would be happy to assist you.

Silver Lion - Shipping Starting at £2.99
Ca'Pietra - Shipping starting at £4.99
Original Style - From £7.50
How long does delivery take?
If your samples are ordered before 3pm, we aim to ship same-day. Any orders after 3pm will be packaged and posted the following working day.
The delivery window depends on the type of shipping selected at check-out and location.
How should I test samples at home?
To feel confident in your choices, it's best to take your samples to the room you imagined them going in, hold them up against paint, cabinetry, the floors and hardware to see how they fit with your style. Also make sure to test them in different lighting, certain tiles (especially glazed tiles) can vary dramatically depending on the lighting of the room.
Will the real tiles match the sample?
For our own products, we cut the samples directly from our own stock, so in short yes, they should match.
There are some considerations though:
Natural Stone: Natural materials can vary from tile to tile so you should expect variation with natural stone. In addition to this we do not ship our natural stones pre-sealed, there different types of sealing methods that can result in different looks, some methods preserve the natural look of the stone, some age the stone and some deepen and enrich the colours within the stone.
Porcelain and Ceramic: And other tile materials such as porcelain or glazed ceramics can see some variation between batches, if we notice this we will try our best to ensure the information finds its way to you.
